Looking for the perfect Sunday morning hike? A short walk through the back trail to Diana’s Pool will make your day. Follow this trail and you will find a day of darling waterfalls, hiking, bird watching, fishing, history, and legends that will make you want to spend the day.
Located outside of the town of Chaplin, Diana's Pool is a short 1.3-mile trail that is accessible for all skill levels. The trail leads to beautiful three-foot waterfalls which empty into a clear pool.
The sad and romantic legend of how Diana's Pool was named involves the age-old tale of heartbreak. Allegedly, a woman was so heartbroken by her lover that she walked up to the high cliffs over the Natchaug River and jumped to her death. It's even said that she actually slipped on the tears she had cried.
The less romantic and more simple version of the pool's namesake states that the pool was named for the Diana family who owned the pool back in the 1800s and used to run a nearby concession stand.
