On the road and craving a delicious home-cooked meal without the fuss? Next time you’re driving through Mystic, Connecticut, you’ll definitely want to stop by and grab a bite to eat and some incredibly delicious coffee at The Vanilla Bean Café in Pomfret.
Since 1989, The Vanilla Bean Cafe has been run by the Jessuren family.
The estate was originally an inn built in the early 1800s, known as Peter Thompson Tavern. It was passed down as a residence through the early 1900s, when noted surgeon Dr. S.B. Overlock resided and cared for the sick until 1935.
Sadly, the original house was completely destroyed by a fire in 1975.

Whether you want a hearty breakfast, soups and sandwiches, or a light dinner and a glass of wine, you will find a delicious lineup on the menu. You'll especially love the daily specials that are listed on the blackboard.
