If you’re looking for a pretty spot that doesn’t get quite as much attention as some of our better-known parks, look no further than Long Wharf Nature Preserve in New Haven. It’s a natural oasis within one of the largest cities in the state, and a perfect place to explore!

Long Wharf is a great little nature preserve in New Haven. It's not too big, so it's great when you just have a few hours to kill during a trip to New Haven.

The entire preserve spans about 15 acres at low tide.
The preserve is located right along the shoreline, making it great for bird-watching.

The nature trail in the preserve is about 1.5 miles long and only takes about half an hour to get through. It's very minimal elevation gain and suitable for kids and novice explorers.
