Life can get difficult sometimes. The stress of everyday responsibilities, work, family, bills: it can all add up to be an awful lot. Next time you feel like you need an escape from your troubles, head out to Mansfield Hollow Lake in Mansfield. This place has everything you need for a great day, whether you’re looking for an action-packed day of fun or just want to chill out and relax in nature.
Mansfield Hollow Lake lies within the state park that shares its name. This mighty reservoir spans 500 acres and provides drinking water for much of the surrounding area.
The man made lake was created when the Natchaug River was dammed for flood control purposes. Due to its status as a drinking water reservoir, swimming is not allowed at Mansfield Hollow.
What it's perhaps best known for, though, is its recreational usage. This is one of the best places for boating and kayaking in Connecticut.
Don't feel up for boating? No sweat, there are plenty of areas on the shore that are perfect for relaxing. This is a great spot for a picnic on a warm afternoon.
