Speakeasies got their start during Prohibition, when people had to sneak into these illicit bars to obtain alcohol. Once inside, you’d have to “speak easy” (i.e.: softly) so as to not draw attention to the illegal establishments. While Prohibition is no longer the law of the land and there are plenty of legal bars in Connecticut perfect for a night out on the town, we actually have a few speakeasies in the Nutmeg State, or at least speakeasy-themed bars that provide a fun alternative to a typical establishment. One of our favorites is I Know You Know in New Britain, a unique speakeasy in CT. Let’s take a peek:

I Know You Know is as nondescript as you'd expect from the outside - this hidden spot has covered windows so you can't see what's going on inside, and it's easy to think you're at the wrong building.
