Butterflies are truly magical creatures. We sometimes catch a glimpse of them in our own backyards, but the sighting is usually fleeting and leaves us longing for more. Luckily right in the center of Connecticut, we have a place where we can go to see butterflies every day. It is a magical space where we can visit and view these creatures as they flutter and fly.
The Connecticut Science Center opened a new exhibit on July 17th of this year. The Butterfly Encounter is truly a welcome addition to the already popular destination.
The Butterfly Encounter is a magical space where you can meet more than 40 species of these beautiful flying creatures. The average temperature in the exhibit is 80 degrees.
All of the plants in the Butterfly Encounter were chosen specifically for their primary residents. You can view more than 30 different kinds of plants here.
The Butterfly Encounter is a fully living exhibit. Its butterflies are enchanting and colorful. Some have come to Connecticut from as far away as Costa Rica and South Asia.
The Butterfly Encounter is open Tuesdays through Fridays from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on weekends and holidays from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The exhibit does require an add-on ticket in addition to the general admission to the Connecticut Science Center.
