Lisa loves animals and has dogs, rats, cats, guinea pigs, and snakes. She is passionate about animal rescue and live music - traveling across the country to see a favorite band is a pretty regular occurrence! Being out hiking in the woods enjoying the scenery with her beloved dogs is another favorite hobby, and also checking out the Pokemon Go scene in whatever city she happens to be in at any given time (coffee and dog leash in hand). There’s a lot to love about winter in Connecticut, and it’s one of my favorite times to get out and explore. Whether you’re looking to check out a new town or indulge in some of our holiday festivities, there’s certainly no shortage of fun things to do here in the wintertime. Winter getaways in the Nutmeg State don’t get much better than a trip to Westport. This affluent Fairfield County town has the most ocean and river waterfront in the state, and there’s a lot to do here. We love it in the wintertime! Check out a few of our favorite things to do in Westport, CT:
Westport lies along the Saugatuck River, and you'll find plenty to entertain you here.
This isn't as much as the state's snowier areas, but it is in line with the national average, and means you'll have at least a few days of white winter wonderland life here each year.
Sherwood Island State Park was first opened for public access in the 1930s. It's most popular now as a summertime destination thanks to its wonderful beach, but it's an excellent place for a walk or jog at any time of year. Visiting a beach in winter is a great way to beat the crowds.
If you need a perfect place to stay in Westport, CT, I love the look of this sunny apartment that’s just minutes from the beach.
