Chances are you’ve taken one of these Connecticut field trips before. It’d be hard to grow up here and not find yourself eating a sack lunch in at least one of these popular destinations’ dining areas. But that’s okay! Even if you’re one of the lucky ones and you’ve already completed this list, all of these places are worth revisiting. In fact, they’re excellent day trips for all ages.
1. Yale Peabody Museum

Everyone's paid a visit to Yale, even if they didn't make it to this incredible museum. One of the oldest natural history museums in the country, the collection of exhibits here is quite extensive. not to mention you're surrounded by a beautiful campus.
2. Mashantucket Pequot Museum

Everyone learns about Native Americans in school, and in Connecticut, this is where you go at the end of the lesson plan. It's wax figures illustrate so many scenes of Native American life over time and even the architecture of the building itself is pretty cool.
3. Mystic Seaport
75 Greenmanville Avenue, Mystic, CT 06355
Even without your school friends by your side this place is pretty cool. A waterfront living history museum, Mystic Seaport is full of sights and activities. In fact, it's the largest maritime museum in the world.
4. Noah Webster House
227 South Main Street, West Hartford, CT 06107
Our little state is chock full of historic house museums, so if this isn't the one you visited tell us which one you did! A national historic site, it's fun to take a peak inside the past as you wander from room to room.
5. Dinosaur State Park and Arboretum
400 West Street, Rocky Hill, CT 06067
This is cool when you're a kid and even cooler when you're an adult. Preserved inside this dome building are fossilized footprints of dinosaurs. Standing on ground where giants once walked is simply amazing!
6. Audubon Center

At some point in school everyone takes a field trip to learn about nature. As you grow older you learn that there's more to the Audubon centers than -replanted activities. Now that you're chaperone free you can really explore.
7. Beardsley Zoo
1875 Noble Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06610
This place is actually perfect for a summer time date and has been the spot of many a proposal. The wide open space, small bridges and man made waterfalls you didn't notice as a kid make revisiting this place totally worth it.
8. Lake Compounce
186 Enterprise Drive, Bristol, CT 06010
A lot of schools venture here for graduation trips and visiting this park at least once is basically state tradition. Visiting now is guaranteed nostalgia and you can extend the trip as an adult by staying in the onsite cabins.
9. Wadsworth Antheneum
600 Main Street, Hartford, CT 06103
As an kid art museums weren't usually the first choice but as an adult you can appreciate this place for what it really is. A quiet, air conditioned cultural center that celebrates talented painters. Put this place at the top of your list.
10. Fort Griswold
Park Avenue & Monument Street, Groton, CT 06340
War seems so distant and far away until you're at a place like this. This place really brings the history to life and its lawn, complete with waterfront views, is perfect for a small picnic. You'll love taking your time as you stroll through this piece of history.
