I think we can all agree that Connecticut holds the monopoly on awesome townships. But everybody knows that no two small towns in Connecticut are the same. These towns are particularly great for a day trip or a weekend getaway. If you’re not already in love with Connecticut, you will be now.
See? Even their library is a looker. This super small town, population 2,408, is also excellent for trails, whether it’s on foot or horseback.
This place is a great July 4th destination. With less than 2000 residents it’s a perfect example of small town New England.

Population 4,971. If you like trains, they have an excellent museum. But most notably, they offer passes to non-residents for summer fun. Can you say kayaking?

This town is home to only 984 residents. But at some point, everyone visits this bridge. If you’re in the neighborhood, check out Mohawk State Forest and climb the mountain.
This place is growing, and at 14,000 residents it's a bigger town. If you’re into bird watching, this is a fine place to catch some cool pictures.
Home to one of the oldest inns in the nation and a running steam train, this town is a taste of history.
The perfect combination of nature exploration and downtown entertainment. Even with a 4% growth rate, this small town is still under 3,000 residents.

This is a great place for biking, and has managed to maintain its original colonial look over the years. The population is at nearly 20,000 with recent growth.
The pizza, aquarium, downtown, and water makes this place pretty popular for day trips. Definitely one of my favorites. Always surprises me that this cool town still has only 4,000 people.
