Do you like hiking, taking nature photos, and going on adventures? A dark cave and a stunning trail make a day spent outdoors much more interesting. Out here, the views are matched only by the mysterious feelings of a dark cave. The Pinney Loop Trail in Connecticut is a fun adventure that you’ll definitely want to check out!
Welcome to Pinney Loop Trail, a spot out by Washington Depot, Connecticut that is just simply beautiful in every way.
Pinney Loop is full of amazing views, seemingly around every corner. Every view of the river between the trees and every curve of pathway that leads into forest is another picture-perfect opportunity for the best scene on the trail.
The main event on the trail, however, is this dark and dreamy cave. It's mysterious, beautiful, and one of the best reasons to pick this trail for a day's adventure.
The cave may look small from afar, but once you've approached it, you'll see that it's well above your head. Inside, it's a bit dark, but the walls are an interesting texture and fun to stand inside to listen to nature around you.
The trail runs 3.7 miles long, and the old rail bed area is an easier portion than the hill climbing section. The total elevation gain is around 350 feet and it is rated as moderate, so make sure you are wearing comfortable shoes and prepared for the varied terrain.
Even in the fall and winter, the cave, little waterfalls, and trail become a whole new world of beauty. If you can catch it after a good icing, the icicles are glittery and perfect.
Dogs are allowed on this trail, but of course, they need to be leashed. Make sure to bring all trash, food waste, and anything else you bring out here, back with you. It's important to keep our trails clean!
