Every neighborhood has at least one restaurant that is a locals’ favorite. If you’re dining in New Britain, Connecticut, the place to be is Capitol Lunch. It’s been around for nearly 100 years, and once you visit you’ll see why the locals love it.
Capital Lunch got its start in 1929, and it's famous for its delicious hot dogs and savory Greek-style meat sauce.
The space really is pretty tiny, and it's certainly not fancy. Check out the wall covered with musician photos - they're pretty cool. But you're not here for the decor - you're here for the dogs.
They start with locally-made Martin Rosol natural casing franks and grill 'em up fresh right here. Martin Rosol is right down the street, and it's been making quality hot dogs since 1928, so the two companies have worked perfectly together for decades.
Oh, the sauce! The Greek-style sauce is made with fresh beef, an it's just the right consistency. It's a flavorful sauce that really makes the hot dog unique.
Just one bite, and you'll see why Capitol Lunch sells as many as 1,500 of these every single day. Go in on a weekday for lunch, and watch them make these hot dogs at a lightning-fast pace. It's impressive to say the least.
