Finding great trails in Connecticut isn’t hard. The state is densely-populated, but it also has countless preserves, parks, and nature centers that are surrounded by miles of hiking trails. Regardless of whether you’re looking for wooded hikes, marshy trails, or lakeside vistas, there’s something for everyone here. One particularly stunning trail that is among the very best in the state is tucked away in the beautiful Ragged Mountain Memorial Preserve. This magnificent park in Berlin, CT boasts miles of trails, each with its own gorgeous views. Some of the prettiest scenery in the preserve can be found along the Metacomet Trail Loop. Check out the best trail at Ragged Mountain Preserve below:
The trail encircles the southern tip of the preserve and spans for about four miles. Due to the steep elevation gain, it's considered moderately challenging.
While the trail's overlooks are beautiful, there's plenty of scenery to be seen right under foot. Keep your eyes peeled for little critters, flowers, and mushrooms that call this preserve home.
