We have some seriously special restaurants in Connecticut. There are a lot of places so closely entwined with the Nutmeg State that you can’t imagine them existing elsewhere. One truly unique place is Bloodroot. This Bridgeport institution has been around since 1977. It’s a vegetarian restaurant and feminist bookstore. You’ll enjoy deliciously authentic ethnic foods from a variety of cultures. If you want an extraordinary dining experience you won’t find anywhere else, Bloodroot in Connecticut is the restaurant for you!
Bloodroot is a gem of a restaurant that's long been a favorite local gathering place.
The restaurant was founded by Bloodroot Collective, a group that branched out of the Westport chapter of the National Organization for Women. Bloodroot still lives up to its activist roots and holds occasional feminist workshops and lectures. The founders are still heavily involved in day-to-day operations and you'll often find them working in the restaurant.
