Connecticut is a wine lover’s paradise. We have more picturesque vineyards than you can count — we even have our own wine trail! Today’s feature shines the spotlight on a bicentennial farm winery that’s just bursting with charm. Land of Nod Winery is tucked away in the beautiful hills of Litchfield and is a divine destination for a wine tasting trip.
As a nationally recognized bicentennial farm, Land of Nod Winery is steeped in history. The family owned and operated winery sits on 200 acres of rolling farmland. The first vines were planted in 1994, but the farm has served the local community since before the American Revolution.
This long-standing farm had several generations involved in ironworking of the colonial times. Making cast iron kettles, nails, cannonballs, and swords, the Forbes and Adams families were always producers for the community. Part of the vineyard covers artifacts of this historical time. The tasting room is located in a repurposed barn from the farm.
Filled with history, the tasting room is overflowing with old-fashioned charm. You'll enjoy a little history lesson just by walking through the doors. The Land of Nod offers a delicious selection of grape and fruit wines. Ranging from dry to semi-dry to sweet, you'll love giving all of the wines a try.
The Land Of Nod Winery is a long-standing stop on the Connecticut Wine Trail. You can pick up your wine passport at this bicentennial farm winery and embark on the journey to visit all 40 vineyards along the trail.
