A house is not a home without family, but this estate seems like exactly the place I’d like to go to be alone. Sitting on 40 acres of land, there is a mansion alongside an old barn in Greenwich that has been converted over the years into a stunning masterpiece of class and comfort. Unfortunately, I don’t have 65 million dollars to spend, but if I did I’d snatch this place up! The recent owners have modernized, rebuilt, and restored. But they still left room for the horses (which is super cool) and even left some of the ruins from other buildings formerly part of the estate. Check it out for yourself!
What really makes this place cool is the history associated with it.
Remember Leona "Queen of Mean" Helmsley? Famous businesswoman who committed tax fraud, said "only the little people pay taxes" and then left 12 million dollars to her maltese? Well this is the home whose renovations landed her in prison. Turns out she was charging all the bills to her company. All in the name of a marble dance floor.
The slightest mistake could get you fired, so everything she built was impeccably done. Even her mausoleum ran into the millions and sits on 2/3 of an acre. So you know the features of the house were built to last. Including the mahogany walls and two and a half story ceilings in the guest wing.
Said to be the most famous street in Connecticut because of its combination of celebrity residents and large back country estates, this community offers quiet and privacy. It might not look like much from the road, but wait until you see this property up close! As long as you don't mind the curse of misfortune that apparently follows all the estates owners.
What do you think? Did this make your list of dream places to live? With all that space and bedrooms maybe you could get a whole party together and buy as a group!
