One of the most wonderful things about living in the Nutmeg State is knowing the opportunity to visit some of the most incredible wineries in the country is only a short drive away. One of the most amazing wineries on the Connecticut Wine Trail is the award-winning Chamard Vineyards in Clinton.
Located on the Connecticut shoreline and only two miles from Long Island Sound, Chamard Vineyards has been producing wine since 1983. Inspired by the French winemakers, Chamard Vineyards tends all 40 acres by hand and is considered the most traditional New England winery.
The winery began growing its first vines in 1984 on five acres of land. The first grape harvest produced Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon. In 1989 the winery produced its first bottle of Chardonnay for sale. Today 10,000 cases of Pinot Noir, Merlot, Chardonnay, Cabernet Fran, and Cabernet Sauvignon are produced and sold each year.
Wine-making isn't the only thing Chamand wineries excels at. The 35-seat bistro is a concert for the tastebuds. The mouth-watering openers are an orchestra of flavor combinations, which are an enjoyment to the senses. You'll love starters such as the Butter and Blues Salad and a few delightful antipasti options.
The lunchtime sandwiches combine traditional favorites with a rich symphony of fresh ingredients. Artisan cheeses, fresh bread, and locally sourced ingredients are a taste tantalizing delight your mouth will enjoy every bite of.
The best part of the winery experience is tasting the finished product. With delicious varieties available you can try them for yourself when you book your own private tasting or reserve one of the winery's elegant rooms for a wedding, anniversary, birthday, or an intimate dinner party.
