Ever feel like you need to just get somewhere quiet where you can relax in nature without being surrounded by other people? The modern world can be stifling and exhausting, but thankfully, we have plenty of beautiful places in Connecticut where you can escape for some tranquil time alone. One of our favorite spots to do just that is Mamacoke Conservation Area in Quaker Hill. This little area is right along the shoreline of the Thames River. It’s so vitally important to the surrounding ecosystem that it’s been recognized as an Important Bird Area by the National Audubon Society. Whether you’re seeking to bird watch or just want to enjoy some quiet time to yourself, a day trip to Mamacoke Conservation Area is a magical experience at any time of year.
