Abandoned for more than a decade, this spooky spot is surrounded by rumors of ghosts.

Improvements in hygiene and treatment have caused both case numbers and death counts to be drastically lower in the United States than they were a century ago.
In the early 1900s, sanatoriums designed to serve as isolation wards for tuberculosis patients were prevalent. In 1910, the Hartford County Home for the Care and Treatment of Persons Suffering from Tuberculosis was opened up in Newington.

By the 1970s, the hospital had changed its name to Cedarcrest Hospital and focused primarily on treating those battling addiction and mental illness.

In 2010, the facility was closed, and it has remained empty ever since.
