No matter your religious beliefs or affiliation, you have to admit that Colorado is home to some pretty spectacular churches. From Catholic cathedrals to Mormon temples, all the way to colorful gathering places like the International Church of Cannabis, there is both a belief and architectural style to fit every taste. While you may not agree with everything a church teaches, there is one thing for sure: this Colorado church is an absolute work of art.
Hiding out just northwest of Fort Collins is the jaw-dropping Shambhala Mountain Center and Great Stupa of Dharmakaya, a Shambhala and Buddhist retreat that is famous for its special classes and tranquility.
Located in Red Feather Lakes on 600 acres of Roosevelt National Forest land, the Shambhala Mountain Center is known not only for its events, but also for the lush and beautiful landscape surrounding the Great Stupa.
Built after the passing of founder Chogyam Trungpa, the Great Stupa of Dharmakaya is truly awe-inspiring, thanks to the temple's eye-catching 108-foot-tall height...
...intricate details...
...and bold colors.
As if the outside wasn't gorgeous enough, the interior is nothing to shake a stick at either!
The Great Stupa of Dharmakaya is open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Both the Shambhala Mountain Center and Great Stupa of Dharmakaya are located at 151 Shambhala Way in Red Feather Lakes.
