Picture this: You have been traveling for hours on end in a stuffy car, looking for a sign that your long journey is coming to a close and that better times lie ahead. Can you see it? Squint harder – it’s that brown, wood panel rectangle over yonder! Does it say what we think it says? Yes, it does: here’s your Welcome to Colorado sign!
Nicknamed Colorful Colorado, the Centennial State's entries boast a surprisingly - err, uncolorful and unceremonious - welcome sign that always seems to throw visitors. Just past that sign, however, is the most vibrant, stunning, exciting, and *insert your own adjective here* state of all!
Welcome to Colorado! If you are entering from the east, you may be surprised to learn that there are NO mountains in sight for at least 100+ miles, as our beautiful state is also home to lush farmland a la the Eastern Plains.
Are you joining us from the south? (Add jokes about Texans taking over Colorado here.) We are sorry about that long and uneventful drive - here are some of our purple mountain majesties to make up for it as well as a small Colorado welcome sign.
Driving in from the west? You are about to discover Colorado's many orchards and wineries (yes, we have our own wine country, and yes, it is fantastic). Cheers!
From the diverse landscapes mentioned above to our dazzling cities to the delicious food and beer, great people, and never-ending things to see and do, you will never want to leave Colorado!
Which of the “Welcome to Colorado” sign photos is your favorite? How do you feel when you see a “Welcome to Colorado” sign? What will you do first: Visit Santa at the North Pole? Go rail biking along the Rio Grande River? Maybe dinner and drinks somewhere new and exciting? Let us know!
