When is the last time that you really “bugged” out about a place in Colorado? Let me guess: you’ve been as busy as a bee and have had no time to check out any of our fascinating, insect-related attractions, right? If this is the case, you will want to make like a moth to a flame and check out the weird and wacky May’s Bug Museum in Colorado:
Welcome to the May Natural History Museum, AKA the world's largest private insect collection!
Founded by John May, this quirky collection was the result of all of the late May's hard work, as he not only assembled the collection but worked nearly 18 hour days to promote his work and build the intricate displays.
More commonly known as May's Bug Museum, this Centennial State gem is home to a whopping 7,000 species and over 100,000 "fascinating specimens of bugs, insects and other things that crawl on the ground."
Just what kind of creepy crawlers can you find at May's? You will find everything from butterflies to giant beetles to deadly scorpions and massive spiders.
In addition to the bugs themselves, May's Bug Museum also offers an extensive gift shop and access to the surrounding rustic landscape, which comes complete with a campground, trails, and fishing.
