Barr Lake State Park is a fantastic yet underrated state park in Colorado. This park was established in 1977 and covers 2,715 acres. It’s in Brighton, which is just north of Denver. The people who know and love this park know it well and love it very much, but many people don’t even know it exists! Besides offering incredible views of the mountains and an 8.8-mile trail that circles the lake, this state park is truly epic for birdwatching. You’ll be amazed by the number of species you see in even a short visit. Best of all, if you go there, you’ll have a very good chance of spotting one or more bald eagles.
