Colorado is home to several natural and man-made wonders that look like something not-of this earth. For instance, there are the colorful Paint Mines (a chalky geologic marvel adorned in several vibrant colors), Silverthorne Ice Castle (which should be pretty self explanatory), and this popular attraction, which is something completely unique and out of this world!
"Coming to you from the heart of the
Mystical San Luis Valley" is that of the famous UFO Watchtower; a tall observation deck that boasts a 360-degree view of the San Luis Valley and no light pollution.
Opened in 2000, this unique property was created in order to capitalize on the popularity of UFO watching in the area and has since welcomed curious visitors from around the world.
In addition to hosting guests Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. (during the winter), the UFO Watchtower hosts an annual Cosmic Highway Conference , which allows lovers of the paranormal to come together for three days to listen to speakers, share experiences, and (you guessed it) look for unidentified flying objects.
**We interrupt this post to bring you... whatever this is! Do you see it?"
There are several ways to experience this un-earthly place, including just stopping by the tower for a quick glance...
...pitching a tent and staying the night on this designated campground...
Camping is open year round and costs $10.
...or spending the night at the recently opened GG's Bed and Breakfast .
Rates for GG's begin at only $85/night.
The UFO Watchtower is located 2 1/2 miles north of Hooper on Highway 17 and costs $2 per person (or $5 per car). For more information on this fun and fabulous attraction, visit their website .
