I know why you’re here… you were scrolling through your Facebook news feed and were flabbergasted to see “tropical vacation” and “Colorado” in the same sentence, right? I know, I know; Colorado is not considered to be a premiere tropical destination, BUT we have our own spin on it, thanks to this one mountain town that is – dare we say – tropical-esque.
Located 70 miles west of Denver is the enchanting mountain town of Frisco, AKA the "Main Street Of The Rockies."
Incorporated in 1880, Frisco was once a booming mining town that gradually morphed into one of the most popular of Colorado mountain destinations.
Today, Frisco is home to just over 3,000 residents and boasts a number of popular attractions like the stunning Dillon Reservoir, museums, and one-of-a-kind shops.
Now that we have given you the lowdown on Frisco, you are probably wondering what makes it so tropical, right?
For starters, there are beachy restaurants like the Island Grill.
Do you think this view is delicious? Wait until you sink your teeth into their fish tacos.
Island Grill is located at 249 Marina Rd., Frisco, CO 80443. They are open from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
You'll also find tropical-themed bars like Pug Ryan's Lakeside Tiki Bar.
Named one of Sunset Magazine's best decks in the western US, Pug Ryan's is North America's highest Tiki Bar and offers both killer views and excellent drink specials!
The Tiki Bar is located right across the reservoir at 150 Marina Dr., Dillon, CO 80435. They are open seasonally from 11:30 a.m. to sunset (often later during the summer months).
There are even beautiful sandy beaches.
Frisco Bay Marina hosts tons of fun events throughout the year.
And, of course, countless colorful scenes like this.
