It's Impossible To Drive Through This Delightful Colorado Town Without Stopping
Colorado is a true mecca for charming towns… wouldn’t you agree? Whether you are perusing the southern, eastern, western, or — in this case — northern part of the state, you are guaranteed to find a beautiful small town to stop and explore, including the delightful community of Timnath:
Located just east of Fort Collins, the statutory town of Timnath is the epitome of quaint with its interesting history, quirky attractions, and friendly community of just over 650. Originally settled in 1869, Timnath quickly became an important area for trading and farming because of its close proximity to the clear waters of the Cache la Poudre River. After it was officially established in 1882, the town began to quickly grow and build, beginning with a Presbyterian church and then a post office, school, and other buildings (and businesses) that are still standing. In addition to the town’s restaurants, shops, and annual events (like the always festive Taste in Timnath), Timnath is home to the fun and quirky Swetsville Zoo; one of Colorado’s most iconic folk art attractions featuring more than 150 impressive sculptures made entirely of recycled metal.
Although the current population of Timnath is less than 1,000, projections show that the town should grow to a whopping 20,000 by 2030, making it the fastest growing community in the state! Before the town grows too much, be sure to take the time to get out, walk historic Main Street, and just overall enjoy this small and quiet Northern Colorado community.
