If you live here, you get it; there are A TON of common misconceptions about Denver (and Colorado in general) that need to die, including these 15 things that every Denverite wants the rest of the country to know:
1.) We do NOT endorse Casa Bonita.
It may call Denver home, but we do not voluntarily go there just to stand in line for an hour and then contract food poisoning.
2.) Yes, marijuana is legal... No, we are not all stoners.
Well, those of us outside of Boulder, that is. (Just kidding, Boulder; we love you guys!)
3.) Denver isn't actually in the mountains.
...but we have a pretty killer view of them!
4.) We can complain and say anything we want to about the Broncos...
5.) ...but YOU can't.
It's like the best friend analogy; we can say what we want because they are our friend and at the end of the day we still love them.
6.) If it was socially acceptable, we would bathe in green chile.
Until it is, we will continue to do so in the privacy of our own home...
7.) We don't lose (too much) sleep over rejecting the 1976 Winter Olympics.
It didn't make economic sense then and it doesn't make economic sense now.
8.) KBCO...
9.) ...Big Head Todd and the Monsters...
10.) ...and Red Rocks Amphitheatre are where it's at!
Now if only KBCO would sponsor a Big Head Todd and the Monsters concert at Red Rocks...
11.) We don't need giant, gas-guzzling vehicles to feel cool.
Polluting the environment just to drive down the street = lame.
12.) Living here is effing expensive...
13.) ...but if it weren't, we would all be living in the Wash Park and Hilltop neighborhoods.
14.) We aren't really beer snobs.
Ha, kidding... we are! But if you tried one of our famous local microbrews, you would get it.
15.) Finally -- and most importantly -- Denver is by far the best city in the entire world!
What else should the rest of the country know about Denver? Let us know in the comments!
