When it comes to restaurants in Colorado, there is no shortage of delicious options to choose from… however, when it comes to delicious options, a completely unique ambiance, and fascinating history, there is only one Solos Restaurant:
Built in 1953, this authentic Boeing KC-97 tanker originally served as a refueling aircraft, making several historic missions to Europe. Then in 2002, the aircraft began serving a new purpose as the setting for an exciting new Colorado Springs restaurant.
Upon arrival, you will be greeted by a "flight attendant" who will seat you in either the 275-seat "terminal" (dining room) or inside the plane itself (which is attached to the building and sits 42). Didn't get a table in the plane? Don't worry! The terminal houses:
Hundreds of aviation pictures...
...colorful model planes...
...vintage artifacts and collectables...
...and access to a once-working cockpit, perfect for entertaining the littles in your party.
Did we mention that you can also access the back of the plane, where the refueling used to take place?
After a long flight, you are sure to be hungry and--lucky for you-=Solos menu is full of tantalizing options like burgers, pastas and even seafood.
(One last picture inside of the aircraft, just because it is so cool.)
