Whether you love native wildlife or are looking for an outdoor escape, today’s feature is for you, as the Denver area is home to a wildlife refuge that may not sound like much but is quite impressive! Are you ready to escape the hustle and bustle of the everyday? If so, we welcome you to Colorado’s Two Ponds National Wildlife Refuge:
Located in Arvada, Two Ponds National Wildlife Refuge is an urban oasis that is arguably one of the best-kept secrets in the Denver area!
Established as a way to protect the natural landscape from the ever-growing city and suburbs, Two Ponds is on a mission to conserve and share the native shortgrass and mixed-grass prairie and all of the wildlife that calls the area home.
In addition to the wildlife, Two Ponds National Wildlife Refuge also boasts trails that wind through the prairie grasslands, woodlands, and wetlands, plus nature programs and classes, service project opportunities, and more.
The west side of the Two Ponds National Refuge is open from sunrise to sunset year-round, with the east side open Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. April through October.
