Colorado is home to some of the best 14ers in the country, but not all of us are ready to climb to the peak of a mountain. That being said, where is the best place for novices to go? If you are like me and prefer something short, sweet, and satisfying, you will want to take the Royal Gorge Overlook Loop in Colorado:
Located near - you guessed it! - the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park, the Royal Gorge Overlook Trail is a 1.5-mile loop trail that offers some of the best views in the Centennial State!
Billed as being suitable for all skill levels, the Royal Gorge Overlook Trail features everything from dramatic canyons to colorful wildflowers, mature trees, and views as far as the eye can see.
From Route 50, the Royal Gorge Overlook Trail can be accessed by turning south (left) on County Road 3A for 3.5 miles, where you will find the parking lot on the left and trailhead on the right.
