The Mountain Rails Live is a unique combination of a thrilling train ride and incredible live music. It all begins with an authentic train excursion through Colorado. You’ll be enchanted by the scenery as you climb the scenic southern Rockies by rail.
Along the way, you’ll learn fascinating tales of the area’s railroad and mining culture. History will truly come to life as you wind your way along historic track. You’ll want to keep on the lookout for a chance to spot wildlife in a beautiful rugged mountain habitat. Deer and elk are often in view, and there are occasional sightings of coyotes and even bears.
Since the artists ride up with the rest of the passengers, they often give impromptu performances in the aisle, making the whole trip an incredibly interactive musical experience.
As soon as you hear the first guitar strum, you’ll see how the concert site perfectly complements the natural acoustics of the meadow amphitheater. This landmark was uniquely designed to showcase southwestern Colorado’s gorgeous mountain landscape while also providing ideal acoustics for live music.
Some of the performers showcased on the summer train series have included Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder, Larry Gatlin, Shenandoah, Pam Tillis, Suzy Bogguss Judy Collins, Peter Yarrow and Michael Martin Murphey. You haven’t truly experienced country or folk music until you’ve attended a performance at 9,240 ft in the heart of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains!
Many of the artists that have played Mountain Rails Live have agreed that this is their favorite gig. In addition to the opportunity to visit with their fans personally, the magnificent background scenery inspires them to put on some incredible performances.
