Coloradans have known this forever, but it has finally been made known nationally: we have the BEST venue in America! If you have been there, you know exactly which place we are talking about, and if you haven’t been there? Well, read on as we explore this wondrous place and why you need to visit ASAP:
It's official: Red Rocks Amphitheatre has been named the Best Outdoor Concert Venue in America!
This honor was awarded by Pollstar , which ranked Red Rocks over iconic spots including the Greek Theater and Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and Nashville’s Ascend Amphitheatre, making the title even more impressive.
Red Rocks Amphitheatre shared the news on its Facebook and Instagram pages, noting that it has also been nominated for an ACMA award in the "Venue of the Year - Medium Capacity" category in addition to receiving Pollstar’s "Best Outdoor Venue" award.
While the stage and venue were not fully built until 1941, Red Rocks hosted its first concert in 1906, when a 25-piece brass band played for the formal opening of the world's first acoustically perfect amphitheater.
Since then, Red Rocks has hosted some of the most iconic performers of the 20th century, including the Beatles (pictured), Blues Brothers, John Denver, and more.
In addition to world-class concerts, Red Rocks Amphitheatre also hosts a number of other events, like Film on the Rocks, exercise classes, and even an annual sunrise Easter service.
Red Rocks Amphitheatre is located at 18300 W Alameda Pkwy. in Morrison.
