Colorado is a weird state, so it only makes sense that we have some equally strange and quirky attractions! While there are many to go around, there is one, in particular, that stands out from the rest, which is this kinetic sculpture park that is one of the quirkiest places in Colorado:
Welcome to the truly one-of-a-kind Starr Kempf's Kinetic Sculptures.
Hiding out in Colorado Springs, Starr Kempf's Kinetic Sculptures are the product of the late Starr Kempf, a sculptor and architect who specialized in giant steel wind sculptures.
While the artist tragically took his own life in 1995, many of his works can still be seen on the front lawn of his former home.
When you visit, you will find whimsical, larger-than-life structures that shine brightly and gracefully move with the wind.
From large birds to windmills to out-of-this-world-looking contraptions, there are so many unique and quirky things to see at Starr Kempf's former home.
While visitors are welcome to see the sculptures, they are asked to view them from the street and respect the neighbors.
In addition to being on display at his former home, three pieces of Kempf's work (Sunrise Serenade, Metronome, and Space Needle) can be seen on the grounds of UCCS Galleries of Contemporary Art.
The pieces are on loan to the GOCA through 2034.
