If you have ever studied Colorado history (or American history, for that matter), you know that the mining industry is a massive part of the Centennial State, as it brought in many new residents and helped establish new towns and communities. While mining is no longer as lucrative as it once was, there are many historic mining towns in Colorado where you can still get a glimpse of this vital time, like the tiny town of Jamestown:
Nestled away just west of Boulder, Jamestown is a tiny town of 250 residents that just so happens to be one of the oldest mining camps in Colorado.
Once home to 400+ miners, the mines - at their peak - produced millions of dollars worth of gold and copper ore before going dry, leading to the near abandonment of the town.
While 250 residents may sound like little in terms of activities, Jamestown still boasts ample mining history, beginning with the downtown area and its original homes, dance halls, and hotels.
