With Covid-19 still a concern and potentially on the rise, it is hard to find open places, let alone open places that are family-friendly and FREE. That being said, we here at Only in Colorado were giddy with delight when we found out that the impressive Limon Heritage Museum is all of the above, which means it is time to grab your mask and head out to this Eastern Plains town:
Located in - you guessed it! - Limon, the Limon Heritage Museum is a surprising gem on the Plains that offers a multi-acre complex ideal for both social distancing and stretching your legs.
Established in 1990, the Limon Heritage Museum is dedicated to sharing and promoting the rich history of this former railroad town via diverse exhibits, galleries, and historic structures just waiting to be explored.
If you have a train lover in the family, the Limon Heritage Museum is the place for you, as it is home to an old Rock Island Railroad Depot building, plus model trains and antiques, 1914 Dining Car, Caboose, Snow Plow car, and more.
Have you ever wondered how the west was won? If so, you too will love the Museum, thanks to its many unique exhibits, plus the permanent Prairie Living Room and Kitchen, Cooper Clark Prairie Voices Gallery, Saddle Car, and a one-room schoolhouse.
