If you need some good, old-fashioned comfort food and don’t feel like baking the day away, we recommend skipping the frustration by visiting the professionals at Wimberger’s Old World Bakery and Delicatessen, the only remaining old-time German bakery in Colorado:
Welcome to Wimberger's, which has been "Proudly Serving Colorado Springs Since 1970!"
For 50 years, Wimberger's has been southern Colorado's go-to for all things baked goods, thanks to founders Gisela and Robert Wimberger, the latter of whom was a baker in Germany before immigrating to America. When he was unable to find good German rye bread here, he started his own bakery.
When you visit today, your taste buds will be treated to Wimberger's original recipes, including the iconic rye, sunflower seed, roasted onion, white, multi-grain, and various rolls.
In addition to bread, Wimberger's Old World Bakery and Delicatessen also makes and serves a yummy assortment of sweet pastries, like fruit tarts, cinnamon rolls, Nutella croissants, and Berliners (German donuts).
As you may have already guessed by the name, Wimberger's Old World Bakery and Delicatessen also houses a deli that is comprised of both your favorite and hard-to-find meats and cheeses, plus herring salad, potato salad, sauerkraut, and other favorite German fixings.
As if you needed another reason to visit and love the Old World Bakery, the shop also has pre-made sandwiches, plus a market full of all of your favorite hard-to-find European brands!
