Despite the Centennial State being somewhat “healthy,” we can whip up some pretty darn good baked goods! If you, like me, enjoy splurging on the occasional cookie or roll, there are plenty of places to try, the best of which may be Boonzaaijer’s Dutch Bakery in Colorado, one of the last remaining Dutch bakeries in the state!
Tucked away in Colorado Springs, Boonzaaijer's Dutch Bakery is a simple and unassuming gem that makes some of the tastiest baked goods we have ever tried.
Founded in 1999, the Boonzaaijer's Dutch Bakery story is as warm as the fresh-from-the-oven pastries themselves, as it is owned by a 4th-generation baker whose great-grandfather started the first bakery in 1896 in the Netherlands.
