If you’re looking for an off-the-beaten-path state park in Colorado to truly get away from it all, you’re going to love Pearl Lake State Park. This state park is not far from Steamboat Springs in the northwestern corner of our great state, but it’s one of the least-visited parks in the Colorado State Parks system; it consistently gets less than 60,000 visitors per year. Don’t let that sway you, though – people are missing out! Pearl Lake State Park in Colorado is absolutely beautiful and you’re going to love camping, hiking, paddling, and fishing in it and exploring the Routt National Forest.
Pearl Lake is a beautiful, 167-acre reservoir in northwestern Colorado. The state park that surrounds it is small but lovely. In fact, it's one of our favorite state parks in Colorado.
Farwell Mountain overlooks this lake. The views are stunning!
This lake is a fantastic spot for outdoor recreation. Boating is allowed - both gasoline and electric - but it's especially popular with kayakers and paddleboarders.
There's only a half mile of trails in this small park, but the hike to the dam and back to the parking lot takes about an hour, is easy, and offers great views of the lake and mountains in any season.
There are also two yurts at Pearl Lake State Park that you can rent.
People love fishing in this reservoir! Cutthroat trout and grayling swim here. There is a two-fish bag limit and anything you keep must be over 18 inches. No bait is allowed; only lure and fly fishing is permitted.
In the winter, this lake is open for ice fishing as well. However, the roads to the park are closed during the winter months due to heavy snow in this area. You'll have to hike, snowshoe, or cross-country ski into the park. You can also rent the yurts in the wintertime.
This park is so quiet and relaxing. Stop and take some time to enjoy the wildflowers.
Pearl Lake State Park in Colorado is a dream! This park is simply wonderful and it’s the perfect place to enjoy some peace and quiet, so plan a day visit or an overnight camping trip soon. You’ll be glad that you did!
