Have you ever driven down a road that gives you the creeps, and you can’t figure out why? We have (we are looking at you, Riverdale Road) and began to notice that Colorado is home to several of these roads that seem downright eerie, including the mysterious County Line Road and its Third Bridge:
Like so many roads in small-town Colorado, County Line Road is a great place to cruise when you need a quiet drive, but what few people realize about this seemingly ordinary rural street is that when it reaches the town of Bennett, something mysterious and almost sinister happens.
While driving along the unpaved road, you will come upon a small overpass that runs atop the dried-up Kiowa Creek, which is known as the Third Bridge and is said to hold many dark secrets.
According to legend, the Third Bridge is the location of a massacre that occurred around the same time as Sand Creek, resulting in the loss of countless lives.
Because of this, locals and visitors alike swear that the spirits of many of those killed still roam the area, thanks to the sounds of screams and drums, plus the occasional sighting of a ghost rider who can't seem to rest in peace.
To make matters even worse, County Line Road and the Third Bridge are haunted by another more recent tragedy, which is that of two teenagers who died in a car accident and can still be heard around the bridge.
