If you were born and raised in Colorado, you were born with a natural instinct to be outside and climb every mountain. If you have dominated all of our easy and moderate trails, you may be looking for a bit more of a challenge, which is exactly what we present to you today. Are you ready to head out, get some exercise, and enjoy some drop-dead gorgeous scenery? Then check out this little-known Colorado hike that may just spoil you for life:
Tucked away within the must-visit Lost Creek Wilderness near Lake George is the unforgettable Harmonica Arch Trail.
Rated as difficult, Harmonica Arch is a grueling 5.4-mile out-and-back trail complete with butt-busting inclines, out-of-this-world scenery, and some of the best wildlife sighting opportunities in the state.
Since most Colorado hikes are downright beautiful, what makes Harmonic Arch stand out from the rest? It is thanks to this pièce de résistance: the namesake arch.
Standing 30 feet tall and spanning 85 feet long, Harmonica is one of Colorado’s longest arches that just so happens to also be surrounded by unforgettable 360-degree views.
Do you want to make a weekend out of your hike? No problem, as you can camp along the trail just below the arch path.
Harmonica Arch is located in the Lost Creek Wilderness and can be accessed just south of Highway 285 and Highway 126 near Cheesman Reservoir.
The Harmonica Arch Trail is open year-round, but the best time to visit is between the months of May and November.
