No matter the time of year, Colorado scenery is guaranteed to be nothing short of pristine… however, if you are looking for pure heaven on earth, look no further than taking this picturesque hike amidst the changing colors and cooler temperatures:
One of the most iconic and photographed spots in all of Colorado is that of the Maroon Bells...
...but if you have yet to see them during the fall, you have yet to truly experience the majesty of this beautiful area!
Made up of two peaks within the Elk Mountains, the famous Maroon Bells are located within the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness of White River National Forest just outside of Aspen.
Whether you're a beginning or expert hiker, you are sure to find something to your liking with 5 different trails...
The trails' distance vary from 1 to 13 miles round trip.
...loop and out-and-back hikes...
...and different scenes around every corner.
One thing to keep in mind when you hike the Bells: they sit at an altitude of 9,580 feet, meaning the air is drier, there is less oxygen, and dramatic weather changes are possible.
(One more picture of the area, just because it is incredible!)
