The Centennial State is chock full of hidden gems (and no, we don’t mean historically, like during the days of the Gold Rush) and we here at Only in Colorado are on a mission to tell you about all the fun attractions we uncover! Today, we are here to gush to you about this EPIC secret hiding out in this small, NoCo town:
Nestled away in Berthoud is the Little Thompson Observatory, which -- you will learn after one visit -- is truly anything but "little."
Opened in 1999, the Little Thompson Observatory offers "no-charge public access to the wonders of the night sky, either on one of our regularly scheduled public nights, or as a private group affair."
What can you expect during your visit to the Little Thompson Observatory? For starters, there is a state-of-the-art Star Wall (which illustrates the full year’s night sky)...
...the unique opportunity to use an 18-inch telescope...
...and a series of special events and guest speakers that you do not want to miss!
The Little Thompson Observatory is located on the campus of Bethoud High School (850 Spartan Ave) and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
