You have heard of Aspen and have maybe visited the iconic and historic mountain town a time or two, but have you ever seen it during these vibrant fall months? If you haven’t, now is the time to get out and enjoy (and if you have, you, too, need to return ASAP), and here is why:
Incorporated in 1881, Aspen - like many other mountain towns of its time - was once a mecca for ore (in this case, silver) but managed to stay afloat after the mines ran dry via its thriving tourism.
Nestled along the Roaring Fork River within the Sawatch Range and Elk Mountains, Aspen's surrounding landscape is about as stunning as it gets, thanks to its countless Aspen trees (hence the town's name), majestic mountains, and crystal clear waters.
Can you see why we love Aspen in the fall?
With its surrounding landscape comes ample opportunity for world-class outdoor recreation, including hiking and biking, water sports, rock climbing, and more.
As if you needed another reason to love Aspen in the fall, the mountain town is also home to the famous Maroon Bells, AKA one of the most photographed places in not only Colorado but in the country.
While the area surrounding Aspen is reason enough to visit, the town itself is also downright charming during the fall, thanks to its ample shopping and dining opportunities, festivals and events, and other various activities.
