Are you craving a change of scenery? One of the (many) perks of living in Colorado is that there is always something new to see, whether it be one of our charming mountain towns, Eastern Plains, Western Slope, or colorful desert. If you are looking for a change of scenery without leaving your car, however, there is only one thing to do, which is the self-guided audio tour of the Highway of Legends:
Spanning from Walsenburg to Trinidad, the Highway of Legends is an incredible 82-mile stretch that covers some of the most underrated parts of the state.
Consisting mostly of Highway 12, the Highway of Legends covers everything from high mountains to the low plains, making for a true one-of-a-kind drive!
In addition to the Highway's many incredible sights, riders can also hear all about the area via audio tour, which is made possible by the Huerfano Tourism Board and Colorado Tourism Office.
If you think the scenery is stunning, wait until you learn more about the history behind it, which begins - like the rest of the state - with the Native Americans who called the area home thousands of years before European explorers and other pioneer settlers.
Also, like the rest of the state, the Highway of Legends has had its fair share of colorful history via prosperous mines, which will also be discussed during the audio tour.
