When you think of playgrounds, what comes to mind? Fun childhood memories? Recess time at school? The sound of laughter? Basically anything but terrifying haunts, right? Well, as it turns out, one of our very own Colorado playgrounds is plagued by the paranormal… and here’s why.
Located in Thornton is Woodglen Park, which may seem like your average park and playground, but is alleged to hide a dark secret.
Like most parks, Woodglen is home to a fun and seemingly safe playground...
...various sports fields...
...and lovely walking paths. However, it is what you cannot see in plain sight that will make your stomach turn.
As the legend goes, a few high schoolers decided to prank one of their friends at Woodglen by locking him in the park restroom, which - as it turned out - caught fire and burned down while he was still inside.
Needless to say, the young man passed away, but his spirit never truly passed on, as park-goers have reported the sound of screams coming from the restroom's former location, as well as experiencing the feeling of being chased by some sort of ghost.
Whether or not this really happened or if there is a ghost around Woodglen Park and playground is up for debate... but makes for one of Thornton's most legendary ghost stories!
