Are you ready to mix up your mealtime routine by dining at an establishment that is not only delicious, but allegedly haunted? (Don’t worry; the ghosts are all reported to be friendly!) Through the years, Colorado restaurants new and old (both open and closed) have been the center of reported hauntings, including:
1. Buckhorn Exchange (Denver)
Quite possibly one of the most famous haunted Colorado restaurants is that of the Buckhorn Exchange; Denver's oldest restaurant that once served as a trading post and is rumored to still serve the spirits of those same traders from so long ago.
2. The Former Full Circle Cafe (Georgetown)
The former Full Circle Cafe (which has since closed and reopened as a number of different restaurants) was such a well-known spot for hauntings that the TV show "Sightings" came in to investigate back in 1995. (The show's psychic confirmed that there was indeed the ghost of a disgruntled customer in the restaurant---who liked to cause trouble by knocking pictures off the wall and throwing utensils across the room---and summoned him to move on.)
3. The Former Pasquini's Pizzeria (Louisville)
Another now-closed Colorado restaurant is the once popular Pasquini's Pizzeria, which turned up several reports of different hauntings including that of a young woman who was shot and killed in the early 1900s (when the building served as a gambling hall).
4. Meeker Hotel and Cafe (Meeker)
It wasn't difficult to find information on the hauntings of this historic (and lovely) 1896 hotel and restaurant... in fact, a simple Google search turned up the stories of Charlie Dunbar (the original owner who was killed during a gunfight that still likes to hang around the hotel and chivalrously lead women down the long staircase) and the Painted Lady (who wakes guests in the middle of the night with her strong perfume).
5. The Former Josephina's Restaurant (Denver)
This Larimer Square restaurant may have closed, but the memories of "Amelia," who enjoyed rearranging the restaurants furniture, will live on in infamy.
6. Rendezvous Restaurant (Pueblo)
Please note, Rendezvous Restaurant is no longer in business.
If you take away anything from today's article, let it be this: old building = most likely haunted... Shocker, right? Pueblo's old Rendezvous Restaurant is another example of this, with multiple reports of a ghostly child running to the balcony and leaping off the side.
7. Costello Street Coffee House (Florissant)
According to
Rusty Cab ,
Hauntings , and
Haunted Places , this charming coffeehouse (which serves some of the yummiest drinks you will ever sip!) may or may not be occupied by its original owners, James and Catherine Costello. (Don't worry; they are very friendly and won't bother you!)
8. The Former Prospector Restaurant (Breckenridge)
Closed but not forgotten is the Prospector Restaurant; a former boarding home turned restaurant that was haunted by "Sylvia," who loved the male patrons but picked on the females.
9. Melting Pot (Littleton)
Is there anything better than a pot of hot fondue served with a side of history? That's exactly what you'll find at the Melting Pot in Littleton, which once served as the town's library before serving hungry patrons a memorable 4-course meal. (Don't forget to bring your camera for selfies, food shots, and the chance of catching an unexplained orb or two!)
