With Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom coming out this summer, everyone once again has dinosaurs on the brain. If you cannot get enough of these larger-than-life prehistoric creatures — or are counting down the days to the new movie — you are going to want to visit this epic Colorado park that you cannot only visit, but take home a piece of as well:
Located in beautiful Morrison is that of the fascinating Dinosaur Ridge, whose mission is to "educate the public about, and ensure the preservation of, the natural and historic resources of Dinosaur Ridge, Triceratops Trail, and the surrounding areas."
Listed as a National Natural Landmark in 1973, Dinosaur Ridge is considered to be the top dinosaur track site in the country thanks to its collection of well-preserved prints that date back some 100-million-years!
When you visit Dinosaur Ridge, plan to stay awhile, as the area offers plenty to see and do, including walking/biking through countless sandstone cliffs...
In addition to the track sites and fascinating Exhibit Hall, Dinosaur Ridge is also home to a small, hands-on dig site for kids, which allows for digging and sifting in search of shark teeth, shells, and ammonites.
The best part? If you find a fossil, you get to take it home!
(As if being named a National Natural Landmark weren't exciting enough, Dinosaur Ridge has also been listed as a State Natural Area, Point of Geological Interest, and Colorado's most outstanding free vacation venue by USA Today!)
