If you hail from the Mile High City, you know that our way of driving is a little — err, how should I say, unique — as we abide by our own rules of the road. Like drivers everywhere (if not even more so), we also cannot stand being stuck in an after-work traffic jam, which is why we go out of our way to avoid these 8 Denver roads during rush hour:
1.) I-25
In case you didn't know, you should ALWAYS avoid I-25 during rush hour... and in other news, water is wet, right? In all seriousness though, there is almost always an accident at any given time of the day, which is exactly what happens when you have only one major road running north and south through the state.
2.) I-70 West
Whether you are headed back up the mountain after working a long day in the city or are just trying to hit the slopes during ski season, plan to make plenty of stops, as I-70 is one of the few major roads that heads east and west through Denver.
3.) Highway 36
Are your palms sweating yet? Seeing as though I once lived off of this busy and (like I-25) accident-prone stretch of highway, I still get terrible anxiety every time I approach the Boulder Turnpike...
4.) Colorado Boulevard
Aside from Jesus, my family, and chicken nachos, one of my biggest passions in life is my hatred of Colorado Boulevard... WHY DOES IT HAVE TO SPLIT OFF AT 270 AND RUIN EVERYONE'S LIVES?! Speaking of I-270...
5.) I-270 and 225
Deep breaths, deep breaths.
6.) Speer Boulevard
This picture HAS to be photoshopped, right? When has there never been a single car on this busy gateway through downtown?! (Remind me sometime to tell you about all the fun I had commuting to-and-from my college internship via Speer.)
7.) Sixth Avenue
Do you want to know what the best part of taking Sixth Avenue during rush hour is? With all the stop-and-go, you have time to take pictures of the beautiful skyline views from this horrible stretch of road!
8.) Broadway
Give my regards to Broadway... and when you do, please extend my apologies to her for turning the wrong way down the confusing one-way during the summer of 2012.
