No matter your whereabouts in Colorado, you are almost always guaranteed to be close to a fun and unique town that is perfect for exploring! However, when it comes to this one town in particular, there is something absolutely alluring about it that you would hate to miss. Let’s check it out:
Located about 2 hours south of Denver, Cripple Creek is a historic mining town that is as rich in history today as it was in gold some 100-odd years ago.
During its prime from 1890 to 1910, the Cripple Creek area turned out a whopping 22,400,000 ounces of gold from 500 mines within the Cripple Creek Mining District, which contributed greatly to both the town population and state economy.
Gold may not be as ample as it once was, but there is still no shortage of things to see and do in this fabulous town, including shopping and eating along the historic main street...
...perusing the Cripple Creek District Museum, Cripple Creek Jail Museum, and/or Victor's Gold Camp Ag & Mining Museum...
...climbing aboard the exciting Cripple Creek and Victor Narrow Gauge Railroad...
...and even following in the footsteps of miners by taking a tour of the famous Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine.
Do we even need to mention that the surrounding area is not only picturesque, but perfect for scenic drives, outdoor recreation, and wildlife sightings as well?
