9 Strange Food Combinations Only People In Denver Will Love

Every region has that one iconic dish that the locals just can’t get enough of… In New Orleans, it’s a hot bowl of gumbo, while those in Montgomery (Alabama) can’t get enough fried green tomatoes, and Charlestonians devour those shrimp and grits. Needless to say, Denver also has its fair share of iconic (and sometimes downright strange) foods, which include:
1.) Cow you-know-whats + oil
It's called the Rocky Mountain Oyster and it is somewhat of a delicacy in these parts! (Parts meaning geographic area... not parts like the cow anatomy you are consuming with cocktail sauce.)
2.) Broth + noodles + meat + veggies
The Vietnamese noodle soup known as Pho is insanely popular here in Denver and -- lucky for us -- is easy to find no matter your whereabouts.
3.) Exotic meats + hot dog bun
Now this meal in particular maybe a little harder to come by than Rocky Mountain Oysters and Pho, but a trip to Biker Jim's Gourmet Dogs on Larimer St. is well worth it for a taste of an Alaskan Reindeer and/or Elk Jalapeño Cheddar Dog!
4.) Eggs + a boatload of veggies and meat
The best part of waking up isn't the Folgers in your cup; it's the Denver Omelette on your plate!
5.) Green + chile
'Nuff said.
6.) Green chile + burrito
You haven't lived until you have tried a warm and meaty burrito topped with a perfectly seasoned pork green chile. (I'm drooling just thinking about it...)
7.) Green chile + ice cream
Okay, maybe we don't go quite this far with our beloved green chile, but we do really love it!
8.) 1 parts vodka + 1 part Kahlua + 1 splash cola
Cheers to you, Colorado Bulldog!
9.) Beer + anything
Hey, we are the microbrew capital of the world, so don't judge us if we decide to have a glass with our morning cereal...
