There’s something so awesome about grabbing a burger and beer at a mountain-town bar that has an interesting story behind it. Nestled in the mountains about an hour northwest of Denver, you will find the tiny town of Rollinsville which is home to a bar that is full of history and continues to thrive today.
The Stage Stop is is the only bar in town and is a well-known stopover for outdoor enthusiasts in the area.
The bar got its start in 1868 and can boast that it is actually older than the state of Colorado itself, which became a state in 1876. The Stage Stop's building was originally a toll stop (named Toll Gate Barn) for stagecoaches from Butterfield State Coach Company that were traveling through.
Over the years, this historic building has been home to a barber shop, grocery store, and boarding house. In 1962, it became Stage Stop Tavern and has been a bar ever since.
This one-of-a-kind venue hosts the finest local, regional, and national touring acts and has shined a spotlight on several well-known musicians over the years (including The Beach Boys, Dave Matthews Band, Carole King, and many more).

As the sign outside the bar states ("Serving hicks, hippies, and bikers since 1868"), all are welcome to experience this little piece of history.
